Why Big Paws?

The concept started when Scott’s family tried to get their dog Rodney the English Pointer, a good bath as he was getting older and could use the pamper. It was hard to find a groomer that would handle a larger dog and the first one they found was just outside of Belfast. However we did manage to find someone closer that was amazing and he loved going to her! It turns out not many groomers can facilitate larger dogs especially the giant breeds such as the Bernese or Newfoundland.

As every pup needs love here we are 😊!

Hey how’s it going? Just a wee introduction to why I want to groom your pups!

As mentioned above it’s very hard to find a regular groomer for the larger breeds as most if not all dogs need groomed in their own way.

Huskies and other double-coated breeds need their dead coat removed so they can regulate their body temperature. You must have seen them blow out videos 😅! They might not need a trim but they still need some care and that’s the same for all dogs.

If they bring back bits of leaves or twigs after a good walk the dead hair can’t just naturally fall out and starts to tangle and can cause them mats!

Anyway I got some hands on training with small and medium sized dogs and certified, then worked part time in an amazing salon before opening the shop!
